Sodium sulfate, an inorganic compound, sodium sulfate decahydrate is also known as Glauber's salt, and the high-purity, fine-grained anhydrous substance is called anhydrous sodium sulfate. White, odorless, bitter crystal or powder, hygroscopic. Appearance is colorless, transparent, large crystals or granular small crystals. It is mainly used in the production of sodium silicate, glass, enamel, pulp, refrigeration mixture, detergent, desiccant, dye thinner, analytical chemical reagents, pharmaceuticals, etc.

Sodium sulfate is an important compound of sodium, when anhydrous, it is a white crystalline solid of formula Na2SO4. Na2SO4 is chemically very stable, being unreactive toward most oxidising or reducing agents at normal temperatures. It is a neutral salt, which forms aqueous solutions with pH of 7.

Application

1. The chemical industry is used to manufacture sodium sulfide, sodium silicate, water glass and other chemical products.
2. A cooking agent used in the manufacture of kraft pulp in the paper industry.
3. Glass industry is used to replace soda ash as cosolvent.
4. The textile industry is used to prepare vinylon spinning coagulant.
5. Used in nonferrous metal metallurgy, leather, etc.
6. It is used to make sodium sulfide, pulp, glass, water glass and porcelain glaze. It is also used as a laxative and an antidote to barium salt poisoning. It is a by-product of hydrochloric acid produced from salt and sulfuric acid.
